Global Youth Justice, Inc. announces it has been awarded a 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance Grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service, the USA federal agency for Volunteering and Service. This grant will support Global Youth Justice, Inc. to serve as a Lead USA Organization for the 20th Anniversary of September 11th in 2021, and in subsequent years.
This was intentionally the first federal grant submitted by Global Youth Justice, Inc. since transitioning to an International 501(c)3, and these federal funds are part of the Fiscal Year 2020 Days of Service Federal Grant Competition, which includes $3.2 Million in Federal Funding for new and continuation “9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance” and “Martin Luther King Jr. Day”. Both are designated national days of service by the U.S. Congress, which has charged the Corporation for National and Community Service, with leading these two (2) special holidays.
Global Youth Justice, Inc. will mobilize both youth and adults across America to Volunteer and Serve in our 1800+ Youth Justice Diversion Programs called Youth Court, Teen Court, Student Court, Peer Court, and Peer Jury in 48 USA States, Washington, DC and 25+ Tribes. By far, more youth are volunteering in these local youth-led justice system diversion programs than any other program in America, and we are excited to mobilize even more volunteer youth and adults — to help divert juvenile offenders from future criminal justice system involvement, to include jail and prison.
Global Youth Justice, Inc. will award 30-50 Mini-Grants in the amount of $2,000 to these local Youth-Led Diversion Programs for special projects in support of 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance — and to strengthen local Justice Systems to have the volunteer capacity to divert youthful offenders from formal justice system involvement, to our local diversion programs — which are now the most replicated Juvenile Justice Diversion Program in American History — and our Diversion Programs have now expanded to 9 other countries.
Additional $5,000 grants will be awarded by Global Youth Justice, Inc. to support multi-state efforts to mobilize more volunteer youth and adults to establish and expand these volunteer-driven diversion programs called Youth/Teen/Student/Peer Court and Peer Jury Diversion Programs in targeted areas of the United States of America.
