(At the Bottom of this post are the 60 communities/organizations/programs/ and the fifty states listed individually).
Global Youth Justice, Inc. and Federal AmeriCorps 9/11 DAY co-partnered to design and launch new Annual Memorial Across America by Youth and Adults called “9/11 DAY Flag of Honor Across America Memorials” with the Inaugural Year on 20th Anniversary of 9/11 Day on 9/11/2021 In Memory of 6,000+ Lives Tragically Lost on, and after 9/11/01 from 9/11-Related Illnesses, by the end of 2021.
Phase I in 2021, included 2,983 lives lost on 2/26/93 (6 lives lost in the world trade center bombing) and on 9/11/2001 (2,977 lives lost in the twin towers). As of 4/5/2022, 253 pictures have been submitted by 57 of 60 Sites.
Phase II in on September 11, 2022 will include more than 3,000+ who have died after 9/11/2001 from 9/11 Related Illnesses such as cancer, suicide, injuries, and other causes (using data from USDOJ 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund). After Phase II, in subsequent years we will add those names, as approved by USDOJ, and/or another sourced based on federal data.
Also, those who died after 9/11/2001 do not have names released by one single public or private source as of 4/5/22, so Global Youth Justice, Inc. has undertaken research, and from the New York City Fire Department to a Long Island Monument, and 20+ other sources we are accumulating a database of names.
When and/or if that data is released, like the 2,983 who died on and before 9/11/2001, we anticipate using that, but until then — this was determined to be the best option, as a number or case file for each will not take place. Global Youth Justice also has set up options for family and friends to report the names.
The 1st 9/11 DAY Flag of Honor Across America Memorials on 9/11/21 was filled by 60 USA Communities from 25 States who Volunteered in less than 30 days in early 2021, and during a Global Pandemic to Honor the Memory of 2,983 Victims on 20th Anniversary of 9/11/01 on September 11, 2021.
After all 60 communities had volunteered, with each holding a 9/11 Day Flag of Honor Across America Memorials in memory of 50 of the 2,983 victims, and no additional communities were needed, Global Youth Justice provided 23 more communities everything as the first 60 communities, until only one 9/11 Day 5-Foot Flag was left for a Global Youth Justice 9/11 Memorial on Saturday, September 11, 2021 in Boston, MA at The NonProfit Center.
60 COMMUNITIES in 25 STATES Filled all of the Slots for the 1st 9/11 DAY Flag of Honor Across America Memorials on September 11, 2021. Although Global Youth Justice, Inc. was competitively selected as one of only five new federal 9/11 Day Projects to launch on September 11, 2021, and the only national level project, Global Youth Justice, Inc. opened up 1/3 of the 60 communities to other other public and private organizations that were not in communities with the Global Youth Justice Network of 2,000+ Youth/Teen/Student/Peer Court and Peer Jury Diversion Programs, so 20 of the 60 are other terrific organizations that volunteered to have memorials in their communities, and the other 40 are Youth/Teen/Student/Peer Court and Peer Jury Diversion Programs.
In Year 2 in 2022, sites are increased to 100, and again it will be 1/3 not Global Youth Justice Programs, and 2/3 will be Youth/Teen/Student/Peer Court and Peer Jury Diversion Programs, so 33/67.
Below are the 60 Founding Sites from 2021 — The 1st Year of the 9/11 DAY Flag of Honor Across America Memorials on September 11, 2021. And a BIG Thank You as it was months before 9/11/2021 when most of the USA was still in lock-down, but we all went for it and said they are outside, and we promised to NEVER FORGET the 9/11 Victims and their Families, and we are so PROUD of these 60 9/11 Day Flag of Honor Across America Memorial Sites in 2021.
