Global Youth Justice's 6th International Training to Establish/Enhance/Expand a local Youth Court or Teen Court diversion program is designed for those who are interested in establishing or enhancing a local juvenile justice diversion program, often referred to as youth court, teen court, peer court, student court and youth peer panel.  Individuals relatively new to these youth justice programs, those who have never attended one of these intensive 3-day trainings, and those who are relatively new adult staff/adult volunteers, working full or part-time in an existing local youth court/teen court should participate in this training institute.

We encourage teams of 2-5 adults to attend and participate in these trainings for purposes of improved outcomes upon returning home to your community to establish or enhance a local youth court or teen court juvenile justice diversion program. Approximately half of the participants at our International Training Institutes come alone and the other half as teams.

Training topics to be covered include training adult and youth volunteers, offering quality community service programs and services, mock family intake meetings, implementing operational and administrative procedures, types of juvenile crimes and offenses eligible for referral and disposition, identifying funding and resources, legal and liability issues, partnerships with MOU’s, program evaluation/satisfaction, juvenile referral sources, implementation/enhancement of programmatic elements (daily, weekly, monthly and yearly), grant writing, identifying public and private resources and other operational and administrative aspects.

The lead trainers are Illinois Youth Court Association's Lieutenant Gary Kepley (Mattoon Police Department) and Global Youth Justice's Scott Bernard Peterson, the leading authority on implementing and enhancing these youth justice and juvenile justice programs here in the USA and around the globe.

The 2nd Global Youth Justice Training Institute for adult staff and key adult volunteers will be held in Cape Cod, MA, USA. The 1st Global Youth Justice Training Institute and Staff Retreat took place in Cape Cod in 2010 and was filled with full-time and part-time adult staff and other key adults who are involved in these teen courts and youth courts in a capacity to include a key volunteer role, administrative role and/or managerial role.  Former Youth Court and Teen Court staff and key adult supporters are also certainly most welcome.

In 2010, adults staff and adult volunteers from more than twenty-eight (28) states and Washington, DC attended this International Training Institute.  The 2nd Global Youth Justice Institute in 2013 promises to be even better, and bigger, as Global Youth Justice makes this a tradition for the adults staff and adult volunteers who champion these juvenile justice and youth justice programs in America and increasingly around the world.  Sorry - no youth are allowed.  We do allow a limited number of youth at our International Trainings to Establish/Enhance a local Youth Court or Teen Court Juvenile Justice Diversion Program.

The 2013 Theme for the 2nd Global Youth Justice Institute will be “Grants, Resources, Partnerships, Social Media, Service Connections/Resources, Fund-Raising and Improving your Grant Writing Skills”.

Start saving your money and be assured our popular Low $195 registration fee including many meals and amenities will not be going up and the Oceanside Resort rates will be very affordable once again (Under $109 per night)!  Very affordable rates will also be available on the front end and the back end of this Institute - so plan to stay a few extra days - U deserve it!  Come join in the tradition that began in 2010 and continues in 2013!  Start saving and planning now for 2013, so some of your key adult volunteers and part-time and full-time staff can come – make it a tradition – we are!  Former Teen Court and Youth Court part-time and full-time staff and key adult supporters/volunteers are most certainly welcome and encouraged to attend.
