This 2010 International Training is designed for those who are interested in establishing/managing a local youth court, teen court, peer court, student court, youth peer panel, peer juries and for those who are relatively new to these youth justice programs and/or they never attended one of these more intensive trainings incorporating best practices.  New adult staff working full or part-time in an existing local youth court/teen court certainly can and should consider attend this training.   At Global Youth Justice we believe in allowing youth to attend these trainings, of course with parental consent, and with an adult 18 years or age or older accompanying them for the entire duration of the training.

Topics to be covered include training adult and youth volunteers, offering quality community service programs, mock family intake meetings, implementing operational/administrative procedures, identifying funding and resources opportunities, legal and liability issues, partnerships with MOU’s, program evaluation/satisfaction, juvenile referral sources, implementation of programmatic elements (daily, weekly, monthly and yearly) and much.

The Lead trainers for the 2010 International Training to Establish or Enhance a local Teen Court/Youth Court juvenile diversion programs.  are all very well respected youth justice leaders.  All have experience establishing and operating local youth courts and in settings to include law enforcement, schools and community-based non-profits.  The lead trainers are Associate Professor Nancy Anne Miller from the Vilas County Teen Court and the Wisconsin Teen Court Association; Lieutenant Gary Kepley from the Mattoon Police Department’s Teen Court and the Illinois Youth Court Association, and Scott Peterson, Chief Executive Officer of Global Youth Justice/Longtime Teen Court and Youth Court Champion and founding director/coordinator of the Colonie Youth Court/Youth Courts of the Capital District, Inc. in 1993 in upstate New York.

Nancy, Gary and Scott have worked together for years in their effort to offer high quality training programs for local communities interested in establishing and/or enhancing a local youth court/teen court juvenile justice programs.  Their international training programs such as this tend to fill up quickly, so register early if you have immediate plans to establish a local youth justice program and/or you are a new staff working in an existing program and could use some ideas and tips for new effective, fresh and other tips for improving service delivery in your youth justice pgoram.
